Gianyar(BisnisBali) – There is a concern that
global warming has devastating impacts on human life on earth.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the Grand Launching
of the Bali Safari and Marine Park in Gianyar held recently
invited all Indonesian communities to participate actively
in the efforts to preserve environment and forests throughout
the archipelago.
President said that Indonesia is blessed with a magnificent
nature, including Bali with its various flora and fauna. The
community should be taking part actively in preserving the
environment for the sake of the welfare of future generations.
It is hoped that the community is not selfish and greedy in
taking advantage of the nature. A single mistake in taking
advantage of the nature will be resulted in natural disasters
and the world destruction.
In Hinduism, there is a concept called Tri Hita Karana that
expects the implementation of harmonious relations between
humans and God, their fellow humans, and environment.
The Hindu philosophy has a universal value. Balinese people
and Indonesians have to implement the concept in order to
save the nature and human kinds.
The President said further that the world is now entering
the fourth stage of human civilization. The first stage was
agriculture, second industry, third information, whilst the
fourth stage is characterized by respecting the environment
as well as being friendly to it. In the fourth stage, the
community is required to improve the natural-preservation-based
economy.
On the occasion, the President has also scrutinized several
handicraft centers, cultural centers established here in Bali.
The Indonesian-made handicrafts are comparable with those
produced in other countries.
The handicrafts can be checked in terms of its quality, creativity,
and beauty. The aspect that needs improvement is the market
for the handicrafts in the way that will be of benefit to
all Indonesian communities.
The Indonesian communities are now experiencing the globalization
era filled with opportunities as well as challenges and obstacles.
The community should be united in solving several problems,
like in Gianyar whose citizens are able to make the most of
the local resources in developing the tourist destination
in the form of safari park.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that the environmental
issues are not only faced by the Indonesian communities, but
also human races all over the world. Global warming will be
causing serious problems or even devastating disasters.
Here, a global cooperation is highly needed to save the world
from destruction. “The Indonesian communities have to
save and preserve the forests in order to lessen the effect
of global warming,” he finally said. *kup/pwt
