Batam
- Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is on his way to
Bali to witness the signing of an extradition pact and military
cooperation between his country and Indonesia in the tourist
island on Friday.
Asia Newschannel reported form Singapura on Thursday afternoon
that Lee's entourage includes Trade and Industry Minister
Lim Hng Kiang, State Ministers Lim Hwee Hua and Grace Fu,
and Senior Parliamentary Secretary Masagos Zulkifli.
The deals will be signed by the two countries' foreign ministers
George Yeo and Hassan Wirajuda in the presence of Premier
Lee Hsien Loong and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Both agreements also carried various matters contained in
a joint package discussed in October 2005.
Singapore Foreign Minister Yeo said with the signing of the
agreements, the two countries' negotiators had managed to
bridge and solve the issues that have crystallized between
the two neighboring countries.
He classified the talks between the two countries as a high-profile
friendly and cooperative communication with a good political
will.
Yeo said the two countries were in need of a compromising
spirit to solve several issues, and the agreements will serve
as a firm foundation for future cooperation, he added. *ant
