Balinese canned fish exports increase

Denpasar (BisnisBali) – In first quarter 2007, Balinese canned fish exports increased 266.5 percent, after the commodity disappeared from Bali's export commodity list some time ago.

From January to March 2007, Bali was exported 1,864 tons of canned fish worth US$2.6 million or more than 328 tons with value at US$724,696 in the same period 2006, the Trade and Industrial Office (Disperindang) Bali said in a report recently.

The canned fish export was encouraging, because the commodity disappeared from Balinese export commodity list some time ago.

Its canned fish exports were shipped from Surabaya, East Java, so that the export records were made in East Java.

Bali's canned fish is exported to the United States, Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore. The trade and industry office of Bali hoped that export of the commodity would continue to increase.

Besides canned fish, Bali also has exporting canned meat produced in Denpasar mainly to Singapore.
