Bali’s TPT lose competitive in Japan

Denpasar (BisnisBali) -Japan is a potential market of several Balinese textile and textile products (TPT). From year to year, several Balinese products exported to Japan increase regularly.

Based on the data, Japan is a biggest importer of several Balinese products after USA, French, Italy, and Spain.

The director of (DDO) Bali, Made Raka Metra said recently, Balinese TPT has a big opportunity in Japanese markets.

However, the decreasing promotion and expensive price make the products lose competitive in Japanese markets.

Although the quality of textile products from Bali could compete with similar product from other countries

Previously, his party was met with the general manager of the Japanese Textile Importers Association, Mr. Toru Ebana in Japan.

According to him, Japanese customers are interested to purchase Balinese textile products. As well as special designs, the products also have good quality.

According to Raka Metra, In Japan the price of Balinese textiles are more expensive compared to same products from competitor countries, like China, Vietnam, Korea, and Thailand.

Raka Metra added, generally the import of Indonesian TPT to Japan decrease every year. In 1997, the value of textile imports reaches 84,094 million Yen and in 2006 the value decrease until 58,259 million yen

. Although the value of textile imports decrease, but TPT products from Indonesia still have market potency in the country.
“The decreasing of textile to Japan is affected by t less promotion of Indonesian government and entrepreneurs.

Since the Asian Total Fashion Fair (ATFF) ended in Osaka, Japan in 1997, Indonesia never sends their delegation to participate in similar exhibition in Japan.

This condition makes the TPT promotion decrease,” he said. *sta/dwi
